Like any other January, I was about to embark on a journey like every other American does after the holidays. although this journey would be different for several reasons. God had precisely planned and place certain people in my life that i am certain to believe that were there to help ignite a spark of interest of various topics, which has now consumed my mind.
I like many of you had gone through a mantra of diets in search of the easy way to loose fat and feel great. well let me just tell you that THERE IS NO EASY WAY. ok wait, let me back track, there is an easy way that only provides short term results because we have become a society of instant gratification. We want results as quickly as possibly with as little effort as possible. lets admit it we live in a society where perhaps our priorities to our health is near the top but not exactly #1 but for some, not even close to the top. some of you might be saying right now "i am healthy and it is a priority in my life, i buy organic etc,," well sister, you have only begun to just chip off the tip of the iceberg. i remember hearing the term of there is such a person of a unfit healthy person. basically just because they look fit does not mean they are healthy inside their body.
I know health is not #1 for me because i too live in the real world my family and work consume a lot of my time. I mean come on now, how can you blame anyone for not putting health #1 when you need work so you can provide for the family and put healthy food on the table, right?
So you wonder why all the sudden now in my 30s you want to take back charge of your health? Something about having a child puts life back into perspective. when i think about how i lost my favorite uncle and my dad to liver cancer makes we want to do everything i can do to lessen my chances of having to put my own son to have to experience of possibly loosing his own mother to that same faith i will research and try it. A bit of depressing thinking, right? i know but without that thought i don't think i would of made such a big 180 in my life. YOU are ultimately responsible of your own health. YOU AND YOU ALONE. this reminds me of that commercial where a guy is at this electronic store and he ask tons of questions then switch to the doctors office and the doctor ask " do you have any questions?" and the same guy who was asking tons of questions at the electronic store had no questions for his doctor. i can remember the impact that commercial had on me when i first saw it.
I don't claim to have the right or wrong answers, I would just like to invite you on this journey of mine in hopes that any seeds that I put out in the digital world would ignite you to do the same and research it yourself.
So lets TAKE BACK CHARGE OF OUR HEALTH and begin this journey!
To Health! As my Crossfit Coach says all the time, "Don't try, Just Do!"
Awesome! I know others will be blessed by your journey.
